You will be collected from your Cape Town accommodation no later than 9am by our Driver/Guide. On our way out of Cape Town we will pass through the Huguenot Tunnel after which the scenic Du Toitskloof Mountain Range comes into view. We then travel along the famous R62 through towns such as Montagu and Barrydale, where a lunch stop will be enjoyed (own account).

After lunch we continue towards the "Ostrich Capital of the World" commonly known as Oudtshoorn. Here you will enjoy a guided tour at the Safari Ostrich Farm learning all about these strange birds and also have the opportunity to feed them. After the conclusion of the tour there will be an opportunity to browse through the on site shop specialising in Ostrich Leather and related products.

From here we have a short drive to your accommodation for the evening at the Welgeluk Feather Palace. This historic building was built in 1910. The Grand Edwardian sandstone house is a beautifully preserved remnant of the ostrich feather boom and was proclaimed a national monument in 1979. Dinner (own account) will be arranged at a local restaurant, many of which specialise in local cuisine such as Ostrich dishes or Bobotie. Transfers to and from dinner throughout your tour are included in the package.

After an early wake up, we start the day off with a sunrise visit to the Meerkat Adventure to enjoy these curious little creatures in their natural environment.  We then head back to your accommodation to collect your luggage and a packed breakfast after which we head out towards the Cango Caves. Here you will embark on a 1 hour guided Heritage Tour of the spectacular limestone formations found within the Caves.

From here we then head towards Buffelsdrift Game Reserve to enjoy interacting with the gentle giants at the Elephant Experience. Here you will be able to get up close to these peaceful creatures and have the opportunity to feed them as well. This will be followed by a lunch at the Buffelsdrift Restaurant deck overlooking a large watering hole.

The day continues with a scenic drive over the majestic Outeniqua Mountains towards the coast at Wilderness. A visit to Map of Africa, a view site overlooking the beautiful village of Wilderness, will be your last stop of the day before checking in to your Luxury Beachfront Accommodation.

After a scenic breakfast overlooking Wilderness beach we head out at around 9am towards the town of Knysna. Here we will embark on the Featherbed Eco Experience, which will entail a short boat trip across the Knysna Estuary to the West Head Reserve where your walking tour will be followed by a buffet lunch on site (included).

Upon return we will head into the town of Knysna to drive through Thesen Island to visit the small Aquarium holding the endangered Knysna Seahorses. From here we head to the East Head viewpoint to take in the spectacular scenery of the Estuary, Indian Ocean and the rugged coastline.

We now head back towards Sedgefield including a stop at Margarets viewpoint to enjoy a different perspective of the Knysna Estuary and surrounds. Once in Sedgefield we will enjoy the various mosaic art pieces throughout the village before heading back to your accommodation in Wilderness.

You will then be treated to a typical South African "Braai" (BBQ) at the Guesthouse with a chilled bottle of local wine to end an exciting day on the Garden Route.

Following a peaceful nights sleep at your beachfront accommodation thanks to the tranquil sounds of waves rolling in, enjoy a relaxing breakfast that will be followed by a slightly later pick up of 10am. We then head towards Plettenberg Bay and the Robberg Peninsula to enjoy the spectacular scenery on the short circular hiking route of the Robberg Gap Trail. This routing takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours and does involve sections climbing over rocks and uneven surfaces so please ensure appropriate footwear is worn for this activity.

After building up an appetite from the hike we head towards Keurboomstrand for a beachfront lunch (own account) at the famous Enricos Restaurant. An optional short walk on the beach can be enjoyed, after which we head back into Plettenberg Bay to visit Old Nick Village, home of Mungo Mill and various artisanal shops.

En route back to Wilderness we will do a short visit to the coastal hamlet of Buffels Bay known for being one of the popular surfing spots along the coast. This will be the final stop for the day before being dropped off at your accommodation in Wilderness.

Day 5 begins with an early breakfast and check out at around 8am as we head to Botlierskop Game Reserve for your 9am Safari Game Drive. You will enjoy a 3 hour guided game drive at this luxury family-owned and privately-operated game reserve which is malaria-free and home to four of the Big 5. Enjoy close encounters with Rhinoceros, Lions, Elephants, Buffalo, Giraffe, the rare Black Impala, Golden Wildebeest, Mountain Zebra, Hippos and more!  A delicious lunch (own account) will be enjoyed back at the day visitor centre restaurant overlooking the reserve after the conclusion of your exciting game drive.

We then head out towards Hermanus on the N2, where along this stretch of National Road, during the months of July to September you will have the opportunity to witness the spectacular blooming of the bright yellow Canola fields in the surrounding farm lands.

We will then arrive in Hermanus for late afternoon check in at your Luxury Accommodation in this picturesque town on the Western Cape Coast.

We start your last day with a relaxing breakfast and check out from your accommodation. You then have the rest of the morning to walk around Hermanus visiting the various art and craft shops, as well as to take in the scenery of the cliff walks situated along the water's edge. During Whale Season (July - November) you will have the privilege to encounter the Southern Right Whales up close along the shore. During this period you will have the option to include a whale watching boat trip in the morning in order to have the chance to get up close to these magnificent creatures.

Lunch (own account) will then be enjoyed at one of the cliffside restaurants overlooking the ocean. After a scrumptious lunch we head out of Hermanus towards Cape Town along the scenic Clarence Drive stopping off at various viewpoints to take in the magnificent views and vistas of this stunning coastline.

Your Garden Route Splendour Tour will conclude with a late afternoon drop off back at your accommodation in Cape Town, or alternatively at Cape Town International Airport.
